Massage Education

Massage Therapists are heart-centered, servant-minded, and incredibly empathetic people. You deserve a training that holds space for your magic and teaches you how to harness it for good. I believe being a massage therapist is holding space for people as they meet their bodies. We must be able to think critically, communicate effectively, and stay centered.

This is not just reading information from a book or learning a fancy new technique. This is evolving into the therapist you are meant to become.

My Teaching Style & Philosophy

I am not a formally trained educator. My higher education began with massage school. I took an 18 month program that gave me an Associates in Occupational Studies. I had minor experience educating before that, taking a month trip to China to teach English, working as a teacher in the youth department of my church at the time. It is safe to say that when I applied for a massage therapy instructor position 3 years after graduating massage school, I was learning a lot on the fly. Something I love about massage therapists is how amazing we are at adapting: responding to the wildest things clients say or do with grace and respect, or switching up your schedule with a client cancels in the middle of your shift, or suddenly pulling out an extra 10 mins for that knot that just needed a bit more time.

So I started teaching.

The school I worked at, and more notably the boss I had who will forever be the most amazing boss I've ever worked for, gave me free reign on video lessons on different aspects of teaching and teaching massage. I hyper-focused for a few months and gained a ton of insight into lesson planning, curriculum writing, classroom management, and adult learners. I fell in love with the spark I saw behind every student's eyes when the concept just CLICKED. It's truly my drug, watching people become aware of something they just one moment ago weren't. Our brains ability to continually making connections is fascinating.

I teach with inclusivity, diversity, and compassion. I do my best to use clear communication and always invite all questions. Adult learners need two things: Repetition and Recall. There is never a stupid question, because there is always another way to word the same point. Review and facilitating peer-to-peer collaboration are woven throughout my academy program, and my inbox is always open to past student who need help.

Teaching adults is tough. Teaching massage therapists is complicated. It's a lot of teaching you to get into YOUR body so you can help others get into THEIR bodies.

I am incredibly passionate about this profession and

my heart is grateful to do this work.
