Healing your relationship with your body doesn’t always require big gestures.
Sometimes the most profound shifts happen through small, everyday practices of kindness and attention.
Today, I’m sharing simple self-massage techniques, healing mantras, and a short guided meditation you can use to reconnect with your body and build emotional safety — right at home.
Gentle Self-Massage Techniques
1. Shoulders
• Place one hand on the opposite shoulder.
• Gently squeeze and release the muscle a few times, like you’re kneading dough.
• Slide your fingers in small circles along the top of the shoulder and into the upper back.
💬 Mantra to repeat:
“It’s safe to let go. I am supported.”
2. Chest
• Place one hand flat over the center of your chest.
• Press gently and make slow circles over your heart space.
• Allow your breath to deepen naturally as you move.
💬 Mantra to repeat:
“My heart is open. I am safe in my body.”
3. Neck
• Use the fingertips of both hands to gently press along the sides of your neck, just under your jawline and down toward your collarbone.
• Move slowly, imagining you are guiding tension downward and out.
💬 Mantra to repeat:
“I release what I no longer need.”
4. Belly
• Place both hands softly on your lower belly.
• Inhale deeply, feeling the belly rise into your hands.
• As you exhale, trace slow circles over your belly with your fingertips.
💬 Mantra to repeat:
“I trust my body. I trust myself.”
Short Guided Body Awareness Meditation
You can also end your self-massage session with this simple meditation:
1. Sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes if you feel safe doing so.
2. Take three deep, slow breaths — in through the nose, out through the mouth.
3. Bring your attention to your shoulders.
• Notice any sensations without judgment.
• Imagine them softening with each breath.
4. Move your awareness to your chest.
• Feel the rise and fall of your breath.
• Offer yourself a moment of gratitude for showing up today.
5. Travel your awareness down to your belly.
• Sense the gentle expansion and contraction.
• Place a hand here if it feels comforting.
6. Finish by imagining a warm light wrapping your entire body, offering it safety, love, and acceptance.
7. When you’re ready, gently open your eyes and return to your day.
You deserve a relationship with your body that feels kind, safe, and supportive.
Every small moment of connection you create is a powerful step toward healing.
