Advice for Massage Therapists Who Feel Called to Something Bigger By Lindsay Juarez, Founder – Mindful Massage Academy 🎧 Listen to my interview on the Scaling Wellness Podcast – Episode 294
If you’re a massage therapist who’s ever felt the nudge to do more, whether that means mentoring others, opening a school, or just expanding your impact

I want to share something with you:
You don’t have to burn out to build something meaningful.
Starting Mindful Massage Academy was one of the most rewarding (and let’s be real, most overwhelming) journeys of my professional life. When I first began, I had no formal guidebook. I just had a vision — a desire to create a school that trained skilled, compassionate therapists in an environment that was mindful, inclusive, and deeply supportive.
What I’ve Learned — And What I Want You to Know
In my recent interview on the Scaling Wellness Podcast, I opened up about the process of building my massage school — the highs, the struggles, and the lessons I wish I had known earlier. Here are a few pieces of advice I shared that I hope will support you on your own journey:
1. You’re Allowed to Start Before You’re “Ready”
If you’re waiting to feel 100% confident, you’ll be waiting forever. Progress comes through action. I started with a small group and built from there. You don’t need all the answers, just a clear mission and the willingness to learn as you go.
2. Boundaries Aren’t Optional
This kind of work will ask a lot of you. emotionally, physically, mentally. The only way I’ve been able to sustain it is by protecting my time, energy, and peace. That means saying no sometimes, building systems, and remembering that I’m a person first, not just a business owner.
3. Community is Everything
Whether it’s a team that supports your vision or mentors who remind you you’re not alone, surround yourself with people who get it. I didn’t do this alone, and you shouldn’t either.
4. Let Your “Why” Lead the Way
For me, it’s about creating a new kind of massage education — one that honors not just the technique, but the whole human experience. When things get hard (and they will), reconnecting to that why will keep you grounded.
You Don’t Have to Choose Between Impact and Well-Being
If you’ve ever thought about opening a massage school, expanding your business, or mentoring the next generation of therapists — I want you to know it’s possible. You can grow, lead, and make a difference without losing yourself in the process.
